Pet's info: Cat | Norwegian Forest Cat | Female | spayed | 11.5 lbs
We adopted a shelter rescue cat about 4 1/2 yrs ago for our then 16 yr old cat as he lost his buddy who passed at 18. He too passed about a yr ago at 20, and the newbie has been lonely ever since. We recently adopted a shelter rescue cat about 4 weeks ago. We know it can be a long process for them to get along, but being both female, will they ever? The new baby is about 2 1/2 yrs old. Our other cat is now about 5 yrs old.

I'm sorry for you loss of your other kitties! It may take some time for Tori Lee and your other cat to get along. I would give it more time. In the meantime I suggest getting a Feliway diffuser to help reduce stress in the household. It's also helpful to have plenty of cat towers to allow the cats to see each other but not directly interact. There should be at least two food and water bowls in separate locations. You also want to make sure you have a separate litter box for each cat and one additional litter box (so in your case, 3 boxes) placed in different locations. These steps can facilitate a happier household with cats who are more likely to get along. Finally, if they don't warm up to each other in a few more weeks, that may just be how it's going to be. Just like people, cats have preferences for who they do and do not like. As long as they are not fighting or injuring each other this is not an issue. I hope this helps! Thanks for using Petco Pet Education Center, formerly Petcoach and best wishes to your kitties!
