Pet's info: Dog | American Pit Bull Terrier | Female | spayed | 13 years and 10 months old
Possible cancer diagnosis. Doing everything to keep her comfortable through steroids and fluids. Has been eating well the last 2 days. Stool has went from black tar like to today having brown with some yellow in it(still liquid) and appeared to be straining. Could this be from the steroids or maybe diet since she has been eating only meat/rice the last few days vs prescription kd food? Anything natural i could give to help with her bowel movements?

The black tar stool could be from the steroids as they can cause gastric ulcers and the change in the stool could be from the diet change. If she is straining to defecated then you could increase the fiber in her diet by adding some canned pumpkin to her food which should help with her bowel movements. If that doesn't help then call your vet and give him/her an update as your vet may want to change or add medications. So sorry that she might have cancer.
