My new puppy has bloody diarrhea. Should I take him to the vet?

Updated On September 23rd, 2025

Pet's info: Dog | Golden Retriever | Male | unneutered | 1 month and 21 days old | 5 lbs

We just got our 7 week old Golden Retriever puppy 2 days ago. and he has been having really bad diarrhea. The most recent has had blood spots. He wouldn't eat the first day and a half, so we gave him boiled chicken and rice and he ate it all very fast. 2 full plates of it. Has not stopped drinking waterHe slept alot today but played for the last 2 hours as well as a few times throughout the day. I'm attaching a picture of one of his poops from earlier and his most recent poop, it looks very bad.

It sounds and looks as Marvel is suffering from a gastrointestinal condition, possibly an infection. i would recommend taking him to the vet the first chance you get, he will need to be checked first, if the vet thinks it's a simple gastrointestinal infection he will need an antibiotic course and a special food for a few days in order to get better.
