Updated On September 23rd, 2025

Pet's info: Cat | Mixed Breed | Male | neutered | 2 years and 8 months old | 10 lbs

Hello my name is Samuel and my dear cat cheddar is 3 years old an has been acting strange lately. He's been less active. He cries every time someone picks him up near the stomach. He also hasn't been eating as much lately but, he's drinking water more then usual. He's lost quit a bit of weight aswell. Is there any thing that could explain his behavior and loss of appetite.

Cheddar is a beautiful boy. I strongly recommend a vet exam as soon as you can. Diabetes mellitus is one disease that can cause weight loss and increased water consumption. Urinary or renal disease could also do this. Cheddar needs a physical exam and from there the vet will make recommendations on any tests or treatment recommended. I hope he is feeling better soon, thank you for using Petco Pet Education Center, formerly Petcoach.
