Pet's info: Dog | American Eskimo Dog | Male | 13 years and 8 months old | 25 lbs
My 13 year old American Eskimo has been vomiting most everything he eats (except birds that fly into our windows) for the last few weeks. We have tried to vary his diet in every way possible. We've had the best luck with plain dry kibbles but now even that isn't being held down. Energy is good. Appetite is good. Drinking plenty of water. Not sure what to do next.

Vomiting that often in an older dog that still has an appetite and is drinking water can be a sign of something stuck in the stomach or a mass. If Kruzer ate a ball, toy bone or something in the yard it may not be able to pass and may sit in the stomach causing irritation and vomiting. As this has been going on for a few weeks I recommend taking him in for abdominal X-rays. They should be able to see if the stomach is normal and if there is anything stuck in it. If he's losing weight and not feeling well then I would run a blood panel also to check his organ function. Once they have a diagnosis of the cause of the vomiting they can then proceed with treatment. If he has something stuck in the stomach sometimes surgery is needed to remove it. Thanks for using Petco Pet Education Center, formerly Petcoach to help you care for Kruzer.

Poor Jagger! Since this has been going on for three weeks now, I would definitely recommend taking him to the vet for an exam and some diagnostic testing to help figure out what's causing these symptoms. Some possible causes of vomiting, diarrhea, and decreased appetite in a dog this age would include chronic liver or kidney disease, a GI problem like pancreatitis or inflammatory bowel disease, or even some type of cancer. Your veterinarian can do blood work and x-rays to help diagnose the problem, and will get him started on appropriate treatment depending on what is found.

I would recommend finding another vet. You can call your vet to see where they recommend you going since she is unable to see Baybay. Diarrhea, vomiting, and loss of appetite can have several causes, including dietary intolerance or indiscretion, food allergy, intestinal parasites, GI blockage, gastroenteritis, bacterial or viral infection, IBD, pancreatitis, among others. The vet will do an exam and discuss his medical history to determine which diagnostics may be needed.

Vomiting, weight loss, and decreased appetitie in a 15 year old dog could be caused by many different things, including kidney disease, liver disease, cancer, infections, pancreatitis, diabetes, etc. He needs to be examined by a vet for a work-up with blood-work and x-rays to determine the exact cause. Once diagnosed, your vet can determine the best way to treat the problem and the prognosis. An anti-vomiting medication may help with the vomiting and get him eating again.
