My dog has a soft bulge when lying down. Could it be a fatty lump?

My dog has a bulge which comes when he lays on his side.it feels soft.is it just fat of his stomach?he's well in himself

I am unsure what is gong on with Frank based on the picture. If the lump is only seen when he is laying down I would think it is not concerning. However if the lump gets bigger or the patient is acting sick I would recommend taking frank to the vet for a good physical exam and to determine the cause of the lump. hope that helps

    Hello and thanks for using Petco Pet Education Center, formerly Petcoach! It's not possible to say for sure what you are feeling on Jack with just a description and picture. You could be describing a fatty tumor known as a lipoma or another type of mass. Lipomas are benign and I usually don't recommend removing them unless they are causing a problem. Ultimately, to get a diagnosis you'll need to take Jack to your veterinarian. They can take a small needle sample of cells from the location and let you know if it is a lipoma of not.
