My dog's rabies shot is overdue. Is it still safe to get it?

Pet's info: Dog | Mixed Breed Large (61lb +) | Male | neutered | 3 years and 2 months old | 60 lbs

my 3 yr old dog has had all shots since I got him at 8 wks...but many events happened to me my husband died nd I fell nd broke both knees in hosp. 2 mos and gone to daughters til icould walk...my dog was due a rabies shot 5/7... its now 9/19 is this a serious lapse of time or should I just get shot nd he s ok.. he s an inside dog always I live in retirement community so no real yard much but he s always w me

Hi, thanks for using Petco Pet Education Center, formerly Petcoach! I am so sorry about your husband! I hope you are doing better. Blueboy will be fine! He can get his rabies and restart his distemper combo series. He'll likely get 2 of them 3 weeks apart. Once he finishes those vaccines he'll be protected for the next year.
