Hi there and thank you for using Pet Coach! From the picture and description, I would suggest having this examined by Mario's veterinarian for further testing and treatment. I would suggest performing a culture on the skin as it does look infected. I would also recommend a course of oral antibiotics and a topical ointment to treat this. It looks as though you are using a plastic cone, which is great! Dogs love scratching at irritated areas. if you are unable to get to the vet right away, I would suggest using a veterinary wound cream such as Zymox topical ointment. I would continue using the cone and ointment until this is completely resolved. Please let me know if you have any other questions or concerns. I am also available by phone or text based consultation if needed.

The lesions that are visible on Marlo in this photo look like a deep skin infection. This may be secondary due to allergies, fleas, mites or other things. In order to get this cleared up, Marlo will need to see her veterinarian for a prescription antibiotic and to figure out if there are other underlying issues. This infection will most likely need antibiotic therapy for 3-4 weeks to resolve it. Please make an appointment for her soon.
