My 4-week-old puppy sleeps a lot, tongue out, and has tears. Is this normal?

Pet's info: Dog | Shih Tzu | Male | unneutered | 1 month and 3 days old

My dog is always sleeping and wakes up just to eat, he is not really that active, he just sniff here and there, and then eventually lay down and go to sleep again , is it normal ? Im assuming he is 4-5 week old now since he just grew his front teeth..and also , i noticed him, as he was about to go to sleep , tear in his eyes and when he finally go to sleep, his tongue was sticking out .. Should i be worried about these things ?

Thanks for using Petco Pet Education Center, formerly Petcoach! At 4-5 weeks old, it is common for puppies to sleep a lot. They typically become more active around 6-8 weeks. If he is just starting to grow teeth there will be nothing to hold his tongue in his mouth so sticking out is not abnormal. I would recommend taking him to a vet to make sure there is nothing physically wrong and to also check a stool sample for microscopic parasites. Good luck and kisses to Chowder!
