My kitten sucks her paw at night. Is it normal? What should I do?

Updated On September 23rd, 2025

Pet's info: Cat | Domestic Mediumhair | Female | spayed | 3 months and 23 days old | 3.5 lbs

Our kitten is almost 4 months old. We got her to stop sucking on our arm as the vet said this was a bad habit. She still sucks on her paw sometimes during the night. Is this something we should discourage? It's very difficult to get her to stop. Not sure if it's related, but we notice it happens when she has not eaten in a while, which might be why she does it at night. Thanks.

This isn't something i would recommend to discourage, even if she does it on cloths or other objects, you should let her do this. she is very young, i would definitely recommend to leave some food at all time in her bowl so she can go and eat at night if she is hungry.
