Trazodone for dog anxiety: How often and is it safe with pancreatitis?

Updated On September 23rd, 2025

Pet's info: Dog | English Bulldog | Male | neutered | 9 years and 9 months old | 65 lbs

My 65 lb English bulldog was just prescribed 150 mg of Trazodone for anxiety, he recently became deaf. How often can I give him a pill? Also, in the past, he had a mild case of pancreatitis. Will this med stir up things?? He's 11 years old and healthy otherwise

Trazadone can be given once or twice daily to dogs. Side effects include increase/decrease in appetite, GI upset (vomiting, diarrhea), sedation, agitation, ataxia (wobbly gait). His past history of pancreatitis is likely not an issue with this medication. If he takes any other medications, consult first with your vet before giving them.
