Is Royal Canin puppy food healthy or is Blue Buffalo better?

Updated On September 23rd, 2025

Pet's info: Dog | Spitz | Male | unneutered | 4 months and 11 days old | 7 lbs

I just read that royal canin dry food for puppies is not healthy, since it has lot's of chemicals. And the blue buffalo is the better choice. Please advise.

Hello and thank you for your post! Both foods are considered good quality foods and are both healthy choices. Royal canin is based on science and developed by veterinarians. BB is not but focuses more on wholesome ingredients that are less processed. Every food is going to have some degree of processing to it, but in general blue buffalo does win the "less processed" prize if comparing these two brands. I hope this helps and thank you for using Petco Pet Education Center, formerly Petcoach!
