Puppy limping with red, infected sore between paw pads. What to do?

Updated On September 23rd, 2025

Pet's info: Dog | Mixed Breed | Male | neutered | 7 months and 17 days old | 35 lbs

My puppy has a larger sore in between the pads of his paw. It's very red and looks infected. He's now limping to the point that he carries the leg up. I have pictures if needed.

Thanks for using Petco Pet Education Center, formerly Petcoach! I'm sorry to hear Milo's foot is botheringbim. It looks like here may be a growth or injury of some kind, and now due to that it may also have an infection. I would recommend he be evaluated by his regular veterinarian to determine the underlying cause for his skin issue, and get started on any treatment (anti-inflammatory, anti-itch medication, antibiotic) that may be needed to resolve it. Good luck!
