Thank you for providing pictures of Zephyr's wound! It looks like there may be some scab formation already on the wound, so I would leave it be for now. My concern is that there are some areas on the wound that look a little red and I would have it checked out by a vet on Monday to be safe. The wound could be infected, and she would need antibiotics to treat it if it is. Keep her from licking at the wound by putting an Ecollar on her. Gently clean the area with a mild antibacterial soap or diluted Betadine solution. Dry thoroughly. You can apply a dab of triple antibiotic ointment daily. Place an e-collar (cone) on Zoya to prevent licking or chewing. If the spot doesn't begin to heal in a few days, have her examined by your veterinarian. Monitor for lethargy, discharge, swelling, odor or redness.

What should I do about this? It looked like a scab but someone picked at it thinking it was a tick but now it looks like this
It looks like a small wound. 1. If you are able, clip the hair away from the wound using buzzing-type clippers, not scissors or a razor. This is so you can monitor the wound and keep the hair out of the way to help with healing. 2. Disinfect the wound once with peroxide or a first aid chlorhexidine wound soap. Do not continue to use peroxide, or alcohol, as this will delay healing. 3. Apply an antibacterial ointment, such as Neosporin, twice daily. If needed to clean the wound, use a warm wet wash cloth to gently wipe away any dried fluid. 4. Prevent all licking or scratching of the wound by using an e-collar or dog booties or socks. 5. See a vet if your pet experiences prolonged lethargy, decreased appetite, vomiting, diarrhea, or a rectal temperature over 103, or if there is creamy discharge or discharge with a foul odor, or there is swelling around the wound.

Is this something I should be worried about and go get an antibiotic from the vet or will keep applying heat help it heal normally?
Hello. This does not look too bad. I do not think Shasta needs oral antibiotics, but it may benefit from a topical antibiotic. I would show this to your vet & see how concerned she might be. Otherwise, hot compresses & keeping Shasta from doing any licking on the area ( using either an Elizabethan collar, T-shirt, or canine body suit ) should be all that is necessary. If you want to put something on this until you can see your vet, I would try one of the over the counter Vetericyn wound products. Thanks for using Boop by Petco.

My dog has what looks like a bite?
Thanks for using Boop by Petco! Poor girl! This actually look more like a scab from some mild trauma. While I do not see evidence of a bite in that picture, that is still possible and an examination would be needed to determine that for sure. Because it is small and mild, I think it would be ok to treat at home. You may apply a thin film of triple antibiotic ointment on the affected area twice daily for 5 days. If this does not improve or resolves, have her evaluated by a veterinarian for further assessment and treatment. There is a very good chance that this will improve quickly. However, if you notice any signs of worsening, like severe swelling, have her evaluated. Good luck and have a great day!

I would put an Ecollar on Sonu. That will keep her from licking at the wound and making it worse. I will put a link below on how to make one at home. She really should see a vet for this, as I would be concerned that the wound is infected and she needs antibiotics to heal it. Vets are trained to work with aggressive dogs, so that should not be a deterrent to bringing her into the vet. I'd take her in as soon as possible. Jack had what looked like a black colored mole or growth. A year ago it was a lot smaller. This morning after rolling around on the grass onto the pavement, the black ‘covering’ was torn off. What should I do to treat the wound? Do I need to take him
I'd gently clean it with warm water and antiseptic soap. To keep him from licking at it, you can put an Ecollar on him. You can get one at a pet store or make one at home. Keep the wound clean and dry, and monitor it for signs of infection. If you see redness, swelling, warmth to the touch, or pus, then it is infected and he will need to see the vet for antibiotics to treat it. Best of luck.

Can u tell me what to do
Thanks for using Boop by Petco! This looks like a fairly superficial wound at least based on this picture. However, it would still be a good idea to have him evaluated by a veterinarian to look at it more closely in case it is deeper than what it looks like. Also, these can be painful and can get infected so your veterinarian could potentially start antibiotics and pain control medications. If superficial, these wounds tend to respond well to therapy and heal relatively quickly. Good luck and have a good night!

My dog has something on his head
Hi there and thank you for using Boop by Petco to address your concern. Based on the photo you provided, it appears as though Stitch has an abrasion that may be secondarily infected. It does not look very deep based on the photo. If you are unable to get to a veterinarian to have this looked at right away, you can use a diluted solution of betadine and saline (mixed together until you have a light brown liquid) and use this to clean the abrasion of any contaminants. Once clean, you can then use a topical cream such as Sentry Topical Wound cream (applied to the area twice daily until resolved) found at your local Petco. I would also recommend that you use a plastic cone around his head to help prevent him from rubbing his head, which would further worsen the area. If this does not improve or it worsens, I would then recommend having a veterinarian examine Stitch so that the most appropriate diagnostic and treatment recommendations can be made. If the wound appears to be healing, then you may not need to worry about it. However, without examining Marley, I can't tell you for sure if it is healing. You can take 3 pictures and attach them to a new Boop by Petco question and we may be able to help you more.
