My 15-year-old Brussels Griffon has bloody stools after new flea meds.

Pet's info: Dog | Brussels Griffon | Female | spayed | 8 lbs

bright red blood with clots from rectum with bowel attempts. Alert no obvious pain just many episodes of bloody stools. Only thing introduced is a new flee/ tick medication. 15 yo Brussels griffon.

Thanks for using Petco Pet Education Center, formerly Petcoach! Bloody stools like that can happen from colitis for example which can be secondary to stress or an infection for instance. I recommend you have her evaluated by your veterinarian for further assessment and to start her on therapy. Most cases of colitis respond well to medications like metronidazole. Also, it is important to make sure she is not dehydrated as that can happen from repetitive bowel movements. Good luck and have a good day!
