My Lab with lymphoma is suffering. When is it time to say goodbye?

Updated On September 23rd, 2025

Pet's info: Dog | Labrador Retriever | Female | spayed | 80 lbs

My 7 yr old Lab has lymphoma, her liver and spleen are enlarged and pressing on her stomach. She won't eat much I haven't seen her poop in 4 days. Glands are swollen on her neck and I have a hard time getting pain pills in her. I have an appointment with an oncologist Tues but Im thinking of putting her down today. She's suffering and it doesn't look like much hope

I am so sorry you are going through this with Lucy. I think you will make the best decision for her. I really try to look at quality of life when I am faced with these situations. If you feel like she is painful, not eating, drinking and has a poor quality of life than it is most likely time. I know this can be a painful and hard decision to make so just trust your heart. Hope that helps
