My dog has a rash under his front legs. Is Sudacrem safe to use?

Poor Buddy! Rashes can occur due to many reasons that often include allergeries, mites or fleas. Definitely make sure Buddy cannot lick or scratch at the rash by having him wear an elizabethan collar at all times. A mild rash may respond to treatment at home. Wash the rash every day with hand soap and rinse it well. Once it’s dry, you can rub in a dab of coconut oil once daily. If the rash is more severe or if it’s not getting better after a few days, Buddy may need to see his veterinarian for medications. Sudocream generally does not help with any skin condition in dogs, Alabama rot is getting more common in the UK but it is still not very common, kidney disease starts after the skin lesions appears and it all happens in a matter of a couple weeks. it doesn't sound like this is the case with your dog, i would believe the skin issue is unrelated to the kidney disease in this case and probably needs to be treated separately by your vet.

This will help decrease inflammation of the skin, but often in these cases if this is an ongoing rash there is a secondary bacterial or yeast infection in the area. You could try the dermaid but often with cremes a dog will lick it off and then it doesn't have enough contact time with the skin, so I would consider putting an e-collar on her if she is licking at the area. You could also try a medicated shampoo such as Duoxo chlorhexidine shampoo. If this isn't improving then a trip to the vet is recommended.

This is probably caused by an allergic reaction. first of all make sure you de-flea Sadie regularly every month with a high quality spot on (ex. Bravecto) as fleas are by far the most common reason for these reactions. If the fleas are not the problem, it could be an allergic reaction to food or an environmental factor. this is more complicated to treat and will sometimes require medications such as Steroids, anti histamines or Cytopoint or Apoquel in order to stop the allergy.

Hi, it is important to understand why she is licking this area. Does she have urinary incontinence and is she cleaning herself for example, or does she have impacted anal glands ? Sudocream can be applied as one off, but can be potentially toxic if ingested on several occasions. I would recommend to have her checked over to understand what the underlying problem is, you will get an improvement in a shorter period of time and that will last for longer.. rather than just trying to soothe the skin. I don't think either of those will help much, but they won't hurt, just make sure that your dog doesn't lick it off. This rash looks evident of chronic inflammation, which could be caused by atopy, flea allergies, food allergies, chronic yeast or bacterial infection, mites, etc. I would recommend that you have your dog examined by a vet so that the actual cause of the rash can be diagnosed and treated to prevent flare-ups on the skin.

I would be concerned that Daisy may have a rash from allergies or from a skin infection, but if it was a heat rash, it should clear up in a few days. You cannot use a hydrocortisone cream on a dog for more than three days, and if this rash has not cleared up in 24-48 hours, then I would have Daisy seen by a vet.
