Is 30% of my dog's diet too many treats and table scraps?

Updated On September 23rd, 2025

Pet's info: Dog | Cavalier King Charles Spaniel | Female | spayed | 5 years and 2 months old | 17 lbs

Can healthy table scraps make up 10% of my dogs diet and treats, chews and supplements make up 20% of her diet? She gets one biscuit per day and one chew a week. Other than that she doesn't get any extras. The healthy extras would be eggs and sardines.

No, that is too many treats and extras for a dog's diet. At most, they should only get between 5-10% of the diet in treats and extras. Too many treats and extras leads to dogs gaining weight. You can could a scrambled egg as a treat once a week.
