My dog licks behind, leaves fishy spot. Are anal glands expressed?

Hello. I have a question about anal sac glands. My dog Rhea had them expressed at the groomer a month ago. Sometimes Rhea will lick her behind for several minutes and then there is a wet spot left behind that smells fishy. Does this mean they were expressed or does she need to still have it done? She doesn't seem to be in pain and is not scooting. She eats a high quality food and her stools are solid.

Sometimes dog will express there glands while licking them or going to the restroom. I would not be concerned as long as Rhea is not scooting or constantly licking her rectum. If you feel like she is irritated by her glands I would have a doctor check them. Groomers typically express the glands from the outside where vets will express from the inside which sometimes is a better option. I hope that helps! thanks for using pet coach
