My dog had a tooth pulled. Is bleeding and slobbering normal?

Updated On September 23rd, 2025

Pet's info: Dog | Weimaraner | Male | neutered | 100 lbs

My dog had his left canine extracted today, and he now has a little bit of bleeding on his bed from slobbering and some seeping from the suture site. Is this normal, or should I be concerned? He only ate soft food watered down to a soup like consistency and he is wearing an e-collar. He has had his head dangling at moments when he is laying on his bed.

That is completely normal. Inappetence and mild to moderate bleeding has to be expected after this extraction (which is certainly a major one). If the signs persist 36hours after surgery a check up is needed, otherwise I would not be extremely worried about it.
