My dog's eye is watery and red after eyelid surgery. Is this normal?

Updated On September 23rd, 2025

Pet's info: Dog | Mixed Breed Medium (23 - 60lb) | Female | spayed | 8 years and 2 months old | 26 lbs

My dog had surgery today to remove a small cyst from her upper eyelid. Is it common for her eye to be watery? She got her come off earlier and scratched it but the vet we took her to said she didn't open her stitches. I'm just worried about the watering and her eyeballs are getting red.

It's quite common for the eye to be watery after such a surgery but it is extremely important that Noel wares an ecollar around her neck to prevent her from scratching the eye as she could do herself significant damage if she does.
