Pet's info: Dog | Pug | Male | neutered | 14 years and 2 months old | 23 lbs
Hi, I have a 13 year old pug. We went to the vet and found out he has fluid in his lungs. They gave him some type of medicine and said if it didn't work then it was a heart problem. A couple of months later, it still wasn't helping very much. Then, they prescribed him this expensive medicine that only had a supply of two weeks. It didn't help either and we don't know what to do anymore. We have him decongestant meds to see if it would help but I don't want to put him down.

Hi there and thank you for using pet coach to address your concern. I am sorry to hear that Baxter is not doing well. The cause of pulmonary edema which is fluid in the lungs, can be do too many things. I would want to rule out heart disease, pneumonia, other infection, cancer, or systemic disease. If your vet has performed Diagnostics already and has administered treatments but Baxter is still not improving, then I would suggest seeking a secondary opinion from a specialist. Based on the previous Diagnostics that were performed and treatments that were administered, the internal medicine specialist may be able to help more in determining what other possibilities could be causing the fluid accumulation. I hope this helps! I hope Baxter gets better soon. Please let me know if you have any other questions or concerns that you may have. I am also available by phone or text base consultation if needed
