My dog's paw is red between toes. Can I use Nystatin or home remedies?

Updated On September 23rd, 2025

Pet's info: Dog | Bichon Frise | Male | neutered | 7 years and 6 months old | 20.2 lbs

Our dog, a B I C H O N, has redness on the webbing between 2 toes on his back right paw. Is it ok to use Nystatin cream on this redness or would it harm our dog? I am a caregiver for my 87 yr old mother and we are on a VERY fixed income, so trying to find a home remedy to treat this without having to spend the $75+ vet fee, if possible. He only licks it at night time and shows NO lameness when walking or running. Thank you in advance. ☺☺☺

Place an e-collar (cone) on Puppers to prevent further licking. This may be enough to allow healing but if not, wash the affected paw with a mild antibacterial soap or a diluted chlorhexidine solution. Dry thoroughly and apply plain cornstarch between the toes to keep the area dry.
