What is this raised, crusty bump with hair loss on my dog?

This bump is likely a cyst, but could also be a tumor. The best thing to do is have Hoss evaluated by a vet. They can determine what this is and possibly remove it if necessary. It does not look very aggressive, so you can wait to take him to the vet if needed. Sometimes, these cysts and certain tumors will arise and then regress after some time. However, tumors in this location can be very difficult to remove if they get much bigger, so it's best to have him seen in the next week or two. I hope that helps and all goes well with Hoss.
