My dog screamed after a no-hide chew. Was he choking or in pain?

Pet's info: Dog | Mixed Breed Small (up to 22lb) | Male | neutered | 7 years and 8 months old | 13 lbs

Last night as my dog was finishing a 'no-hide' chew, he suddenly started screaming, like he was scared/in pain and maybe struggling to breathe. I honestly thought he was dying but before i could call the vet, he stopped and then seemed completely fine. He's eating/drinking/pooping all normally. I'm keeping an eye on him, but he seems good. What do you think happened? Did part of the treat maybe get stuck while going down and then work its way through? I'm still very shaken from his scream.

It is possible that he has a painful tooth, that he swallowed too large a piece, or that he felt like he was choking. I would continue to keep an eye on Cosmo for a week. If you see any decrease in appetite, lethargy, vomiting, diarrhea, or constipation, then he should be probably have a check up with your veterinarian.
