My dog has liver issues and won't eat. Will milk thistle help?

Updated On September 23rd, 2025

Pet's info: Dog | Pug | Male | unneutered | 6 years and 4 months old | 19.8416 lbs

Hi My Dog's legs, chest, and stomach have turned black and all the hairs have gone, I checked with my Vet and after doing skin scrapings & testing he said he has Demodex. From last 3 weeks, I am cleaning all the area with "Betadine" and applying "Neosporin" powder on the skin Area. His liver is also not doing well and his kidneys are also weak. From last week he has stopped eating and the doctor said he has a weak liver also. My only question is will "Milk thistle" Work For Him?

I'm sorry to hear that Iggy is having so many issues. Milk thistle is helpful for liver disease as it has antioxidant properties. A supplement like Denamarin contains both milk thistle and SAMe which helps the liver. Thank you for using Petco Pet Education Center, formerly Petcoach and I hope Iggy is feeling better soon!
