Can I safely stop my dog's daily meloxicam if joint supplements work?

Updated On September 23rd, 2025

Pet's info: Dog | Samoyed | Female | spayed | 15 years and 10 months old | 70 lbs

I am giving my dog meloxicam daily as well as joint wellness that has glucosamine and chondroitin every other day. Is this too much? Can I eliminate the meloxicam if the dog is responding well to both?

Hi there! I love Samoyeds! If you think that Natika is doing very well now you can try just the joint supplements and save the meloxicam to only be used on an as needed basis if she appears particularly painful at any given time. Those joint supplements alone can make quite the difference sometimes. Good luck with your girl!
