Why did my newborn puppy die with yellow discharge from its nose?

Hi my dog just had a litter 1 pup has passed away but it had yellow stuff cumn from noes wot had happen to it

Hi, thanks for using Petco Pet Education Center, formerly Petcoach! I'm sorry for the loss of your puppy! Sometimes if yellow discharge is seen from the nose it could be from aspirating milk when nursing. Puppies with a genetic defect of their palates (roof of the mouth) also called a cleft palpate can aspirate milk through their nose. Aspiration can lead to pneumonia which is a serious lung infection and a lot of puppies that young can't make it through that. The puppy should also have had an upper respiratory infection.
