My cat ate styrofoam. Is it safe for a nursing mom with no symptoms?

Updated On September 23rd, 2025

Pet's info: Cat | Mixed Breed | Female | unspayed | 6 lbs

What should I do for a small female cat who ingested part of a styrofoam insulation board last night? She is currently nursing 2 1/2 week old kittens, and I haven't noticed any symptoms. She seems to be active and still eating well.

I would recommend just monitoring Winnie at home. it is possible the styrofoam will pass on its own at home. however if winnie stops eating, drinking, vomiting or acting lethargic I would high recommend taking her to the vet for an exam and possible x-ray to look for an obstruction. Hope that helps
