What causes a cat's white fur to turn brown under its front leg?

Pet's info: Cat | Mixed Breed | Female | spayed | 9 lbs

Pure black and white house cat has small patch in r front leg pit area that is turning from white to coffee colored over several weeks. Patch expanding. No sign of any skin problems in the area.

Saliva staining can have this discoloration on fur or it may be a reaction to rubbing against something. Sometimes they over groom and lick an area due to an allergy or a wound or stress if there was change of some sort. If you can break the cycle and find the underlying cause, they hair will grow back out white and look normal again
