My dog ate rug string, has diarrhea but is active. What should I do?

Pet's info: Dog | German Shepherd | Female | spayed | 3 years and 10 months old

Ate part of rug 4 days ago. Passed some,pulled out part of the string diarrhea last two days increased fiber added sweet potato. Still active& eating

I'm sorry, I pressed submit too soon! I recommend withholding food for 12-24 hours, then feeding a bland diet of boiled white meat chicken (no bones) in small amounts several times a day for a couple of days. Then slowly add back in her normal diet. If Maxine continues to have diarrhea on the bland diet, or she develops other symptoms such a lethargy, anorexia, or vomiting, then I would take her into the vet for an exam.

    Naughty Maxine for eating the rug! The diarrhea is likely due to her eating the rug, as passing it has upset her GI tract. Given that it has been four days and she is still active and eating, I would recommend withholding food and trying bland diet to try to help with the diarrhea.
