My 2 year old Golden Retriever, got hit by a car two days ago and miraculously survived. he is currently on pain/anti inflammatory meds and is not limping or whimpering. in fact he is very active. he got hit on his hind leg (hip area). We dont want him to have some hidden damage. the vet did a Scan and said that he had no internal fluid retention etc. and no external damage to be seen . is it okay for us to give him glucosamate/ condroitin supplements for a while?

Glucosamine and Chondroitin supplements are a great idea to help the joints, and something I would do for a retriever on a life-long basis, not just now. Now is an excellent time to start! There are no adverse reactions with the pain meds, so he is safe to get them. Goldens have a tendency towards hip dysplasia, and joint supplements started at an early age can help ease the degradation of the joints. I am glad to hear your pup is doing well, I know how scary it can be to have them hit!
