I noticed a bump on tip of my labs nose and thought it might just be a bite. Last night he got excited and went to jump and my ring hit his nose where the bump is and peeled the top of it back making it bleed. He then scratched the whole top off. This morning it had a layer over it but he went outside to use the restroom and rolled in the grass and peeled the layer off making it bleed again. Now it is a round, bright red open wound. What could it be? How do I keep it clean? Should I be concerned

It is possible that hitting the ring was enough to cause an injury on Fisher's nose, and that it is now trying to heal. It is best to try and keep the area clean and dry and prevent him from rubbing on it with the use of an Elizabethan (cone) collar. You can keep the area clean by gently using a warm clean washcloth on the area and wiping away any dirt or debris. If the area doesn't heal after a day or so, worsens, or appear infected (hot to touch, very bothersome, oozing green or discolored debris) then having a vet take a look is best. If the area heals but the bump returns, you may also want to have your vet take a look to make sure there isn't another underlying cause of it.
