My dog's first heat: Is aggression & sensitivity normal? Can I bathe?

Updated On September 23rd, 2025

Pet's info: Dog | Mixed Breed | Female | unspayed | 8 months and 10 days old

What should an owner do? My dog, chii's having her first heat. I was shocked too, 'cause I didn't know it would happen this fast she's just 8+m and thought she had UTI 'cause I saw some blood on her pee and even got med from the vet. But as I read threads in which they tackled most about 'heat', I found out that it was in fact being in heat. Is it normal for her to be aggressive? She somehow became more sensitive. And, is it alright to bath her? Sorry about this, thank you in advance.

No need to apologize for wanting more information! Dogs can go into heat anytime from when they are six months old. Dogs can be aggressive when they are in heat, it's due to the hormonal changes. These hormonal changes can predispose Chii to be aggressive. It can also lead her to be more sensitive. If you want to stop these behaviors, the best thing to do is to have her spayed. It is ok to bathe her :-)
