My small puppy cries in his crate. Is this normal and how to help?

I have a small puppy that weighs about a pound, when you leave him in his crate which is big he starts crying even if i am in the same room. Is it ok. Pet's info: Dog | Mixed Breed | Male | unneutered | 1 month and 9 days old
