My cat had intestinal surgery for a mass. Is it cancer or benign?

Updated On September 23rd, 2025

Pet's info: Cat | Mixed Breed | Female | spayed | 4 years and 2 months old | 9 lbs

My cat is at an emergency hospital. She's SF 4yo healthy until two days ago started vomiting. Dr found a mass like growth and needed to remove half of her intestines and two lymph nodes. Waiting on biopsy, but I'm very nervous - what is the likely good of neoplasia vs. granuloma/ibd induced thickening?

So sorry about your cat. It Is sometimes hard to predict the likelihood of neoplasia versus a benign cause. I have had cases that I thought would be lymphoma and turned out to be an infection/inflammation. I know it is hard waiting on the biopsy results but try not to worry until the results are back. Hoping for good news when the results are in.
