Pet's info: Dog | Golden Retriever | Female | unspayed | 57 lbs
Hi, is it necessary to take a dog, 13 year old golden retriever, to the vet in case of conjunctivitis? Only one eye is affected. I am asking becaus our dog is very upset and afraid when going to the vet, she even gets fever. Thank you for your answer. Barbara P.

Conjunctivitis in dogs almost always requires a topical antibiotic ointment to treat, so unfortunately you will need to get Gina seen. You can however ask your veterinarian to call in a prescription for a calming sedative such as Trzadone to make her visit less stressful for both her and you. This medication can be called in at any human pharmacy and works great for overly anxious pets like Gina.
