My cat is still leaking vaginal pus after antibiotics. Is it normal?

Pet's info: Cat | Mixed Breed | Female | unspayed | 1 year and 4 months old

My cat was leaking a beige pus out of her vagina i took her to the vet on saturday and he gave her a 5 day course of antibiotics i took her back on monday for a check up and they said her temp had gone down and to keep giving her the antibiotics she only has 1 tablet left but is still leaking this pus from her vagina is this normal or do i need to take her back to the vets

No, this is not normal - I would definitely recommend taking Magic back to the vet. Pus coming from the vagina in an unspayed female cat is a common sign of a serious uterine infection called a pyometra. This is a life-threatening problem that normally requires surgery to remove the infected uterus. Antibiotics can help for a while, but they are rarely successful at eliminating the infection - this is why surgery is the preferred treatment for this problem.

    No, that is not normal. She may need a longer course of antibiotics or possibly a different antibiotic. A culture of the vaginal discharge is warranted so that your vet knows exactly what bacteria are present and then what antibiotic is the best option at eliminating the bacteria.
