My dog ripped his nail, is limping, and has a red eye. What's wrong?

My dog snagged his nail yesterday and almost ripped it off. He was struggling for a little bit before we heard him. It's not bleeding anymore but he is limping and now has a red spot on the side of his eye like he busted a blood vessel. Pet's info: Dog | Japanese Chin | Male | neutered | 13 lbs

Poor Bugg - it sounds like he hit his head whilst struggling! IF his behaviors are generally normal, this bruise should reduce over time. IT is likely he will lose the nail which got damaged and will be lame until it falls off or is removed; keep the area clean with salted water to prevent infection
