Updated On September 23rd, 2025

Pet's info: Cat | American Shorthair | Male | 2 years and 4 months old | 18 lbs

my cat has a self inflicted scratch on his ear that made it swell he can't get into the vet right away it's over a week out. I do know the underline cause he had a flea issue which is now under control but it left him with the scratch what can I do while waiting for the vet.

The scratch can be cleaned with salt water twice daily (10 teaspoons of salt in liter if water) or diluted betadine or hibiscrub solution. A buster collar should be ideally placed if possible to avoid further scratches.
