My dog's ear cup is rubbing raw, and he has blood in his urine.

Updated On September 23rd, 2025

Pet's info: Dog | American Pit Bull Terrier | Male | unneutered | 3 months and 3 days old | 22 lbs

My dog recently has his ears cropped and his tail docked. They put a "cup" on his head to insure his ears were straight and it's rubbing him raw. Moisture has gathered around it but we were told to leave it alone and NOT to clean it. This doesn't seem right. I just noticed now he now has boood in his urine. What is wrong with our boy?!

I would recommend an immediate check up as massive amount of discharge from the wound and the cup/bandage should be checked and removed few days after the operation especially if Dexter is rubbing a lot. A buster collar may be needed in addition. Urinary infection could be the cause of the blood in the urine and antibiotics may be required.
