My hedgehog is losing quills. Can its mites spread to me or my pets?

My hedgehog is losing quills.. I clean his cage every four days- the last time I cleaned it I found about 20 quills. I bathed him immediately, washed his bedding and disinfected his cage. I can't afford a vet visit and online everyone says it's probably mites. I also hear many vets tell clients to proceed with revolution even if a skin scrape shows up negative. So I ordered revolution online. My question is how contagious are these mites? Can humans get them?

Most mites are species specific, so there is little concern the mites will choose you over Milo. Call your vet and confirm Revolution use prior to administration. Apply it at least 2-3 days after bathing. If you have other pets, they should be treated as well.
