Pet's info: Cat | American Shorthair | Female | spayed | 11 lbs
Should I be monitoring my cat's diabetes gl or just let the vet do the testing once a week, I give her 3 unit insulin shots every 12 hours. She is 13 years old and weigh 11 lbs, she eats about a teaspoon of food at her twice a day feedings, She is loosing weight and acts hungry between feedings.

It doesn't sound like her blood glucose level is under control, if she is an easy cat to handle I would recommend doing a glucose curve and generally checking the glucose levels regularly until her condition improves. Here is a good website that explains about the glucose curve: http://www.vetsulin.com/vet/Cats_Monitoring_About.aspx
