Is croton plant bark toxic to my nursing rabbit and her babies?

Updated On September 23rd, 2025

Pet's info: Small Animal | Rabbit | Female | unspayed | 5 months and 16 days old | 5 lbs

Hello. My rabbit ate a lot of bark from my croton plant. She seems fine and is eating and drinking normally. She is also nursing 7 babies. I'm a nervous wreck. Please help. Thank you, Maureen

Bark can cause an impaction in rabbits, unfortunately there isn't much you can do now that it's done, you can only wait and see if it will affect her or not. Usually the first sign would be lack of appetite or bloat. If this happens- take her to the vet immediately.
