My 5-month yorkie pup can't walk. Is it a birth defect like AAS?

Pet's info: Dog | Yorkshire Terrier | Male | unneutered | 5 months and 6 days old | 1lb

Hi, Very distraught, my 5 month old yorkie pup was normal until recently becoming paralysed , my vet dianosed him with rare birth defect called Atlantoaxial subluxation , he has feeling thou in all 4 legs but can't stand or walk. Currently put on cortisone 0.2ml he weighs 800grams

Atlanto axial subluxation or cervical strokes or tetraparalysis due to tick paralysis or botulism or polyradiculoneuritis are all possible differentials although the diagnosis that your vet gave to you is probably the most likely. I would strongly recommend to have Dexter checked by a specialist in Neurology and Neurosurgery and have the best diagnostic and treatment options offered. I am happy to discuss further the problem if needed either on the forum or in a ''private" consultation.
