Pet's info: Dog | Boston Terrier | Female | spayed | 4 years and 2 months old | 15 lbs
A bump like a boil showed up on my Boston Terrier bottom last night. I think it's an anal gland. It seems have popped and she's moving better. She seemed sore and didn't want to move. She didn't want to eat this am but ate later. She's gotten this before but I thought it was a bug bite. Could it be an anal gland?

If it was an anal sac that rupture, Holly would be a lot of pain, and you would see a bloody discharge from her anus, along with pus, and it would be accompanied by a fishy smell. If you aren't seeing any of these signs in Holly, then it's likely the sac hasn't ruptured. It could be that her anal sacs were becoming impacted, and then a poop may have caused them to express themselves, leading to relief. If this bump is gone and she's moving better, I would continue to monitor for now. If the bump returns, or she starts having trouble moving again, I would take her into the vet for an exam.
