My puppy has pyoderma. Is this rash serious or a long-term problem?

Updated On September 23rd, 2025

Pet's info: Dog | Australian Cattle Dog | Female | unspayed | 1 month and 24 days old

I was supposed to pick up a 2 month old puppy this weekend. But she came down with puppy pyoderma, so now I must wait until she clears up. Will this rash cause any problems later in her life? Should I still drive up to meet her, or wait until she is healed? Should I be concerned about this rash?

Puppy pyoderma is a skin infection that is very common in dogs. This rash won't cause her any problems later in life, and I would not be concerned about it. Once Raven is matured, she should not longer be at risk of getting puppy pyoderma. You can drive up to meet her if you'd like, it would be nice for her to meet her new owner before you take her home :-)
