My guinea pig is in pain. Can I give her ibuprofen for comfort?

Updated On September 23rd, 2025

Pet's info: Exotic | Unknown - Exotic | Female | unspayed

I have a 7 year old guinea pig with a massive tumor. I was told 8 months ago she only has a month to live. But here I am 8 months later. And she is still alive. Recently I can tell she is in pain. Can I put ibuprofen in her water just to make her comfortable? I know she's coming to an end. I just hate seeing her in pain

Ibuprofen cannot be used in guinea pigs. Contact your veterinarian and request pain management for Daisy. This can be a NSAID such as Metacam or a more powerful medication, such as Buprenorphine, based on her symptoms.
