Should I put down my old dog with mobility and incontinence issues?

Updated On September 23rd, 2025

Pet's info: Dog | Siberian Husky | Male | neutered | 48 lbs

My Siberia husky had been having a hard time getting up from laying position and would deficates and urinate in his cage. Sometimes just stand thier and leak urine. He was 14 years old. I took him to the vet and they said he had spomdilosus in his spine and the nerves were causing him not to know he was using the bathroom and said I should put him down so I did. Did I make the right decision?

So sorry about Bizz. I know how difficult the decision can be. If he was having a hard time getting up and urinating and defecating in his cage than I think you made the right decision. It doesn't sound like his quality of life was very good. Once again, sorry for your loss.
