My vet recommended Taste of the Wild for Maltese anal gland issues. Is it right?

Updated On September 23rd, 2025

Pet's info: Dog | Maltese | Female | unspayed | 3 years and 6 months old | 4 lbs

Our veterinarian recommended us Taste of the wild for our Maltese considering her anal glands trouble. So I'd like to hear your opinion on the food?

Taste of the Wild is one of the better quality diets available. Feed it to Bella exclusively for a minimum of 6-8 weeks then re-evaluate her anal gland issues. Adding additional fiber may help by aiding defecation which is what causes the glands to empty. Add one teaspoon of plain canned pumpkin (NOT pie filling) to the diet once or twice daily.
